The Birth Work Conversation: Midwives and Doulas Leading the Way brings together midwives and doulas for a powerful and grounded discussion on the role of birth workers in advancing Black maternal and mental health. Rooted in community, trust, and culturally responsive care, this conversation will explore how midwives and doulas are not only supporting births but transforming the way care is delivered before, during, and after pregnancy.
Panelists will share real-world experiences, challenges, and solutions from the field, highlighting the impact of birth work on improving outcomes, reducing harm, and restoring dignity to the birthing experience. This session will also examine the importance of collaboration, sustainability, and increased investment in community-based care models.
Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of the critical role midwives and doulas play in supporting Black mothers and families, and what it will take to ensure their work is recognized, resourced, and sustained as part of the future of maternal health.
